FG Elementopee Field Guides

FIELD GUIDE 00 · INTEGRATED EDITION

The Field Guide to Survival

This is the guide that holds the others. It does not replace their depth. It tells you what each instrument is for, when to reach for it, and what to carry when there is no time to read the pages.

The aim is not victory. The aim is to stay whole and mobile — keeping enough of your own judgment that no web, garrison, party, list, institution, friendship, or frightened animal can spend it for you.
Keep an exit Keep a disagreement Keep a doubt Keep an eye Keep a heart Keep enough

01 · What you are protecting

One faculty. Different rooms.

The guides use different language because the threat changes shape. Underneath them is the same thing: the part of your judgment you never hand over.

Survival is not winning

You do not defeat the web, the garrison, the party, the list, or the institution. You will not repair every system after you finally recognize the machinery. Survival is narrower and harder: remain able to see, disagree, move, and revise.

The common faculty

Sovereignty calls it the unpledged reserve: final custody of your own judgment. The Spider’s Gambit calls it the unwoven eye: the part of you that watches how you are being shown things. Conscripted Objects turns it toward function as the caretaker’s gaze. The Enemy specimen protects the doubt you are allowed to keep. Institutional Dishonesty insists on the accurate name when the system prefers a survivable euphemism.

Friendlies reads the same faculty from the opposite direction: what happens to your judgment after your guard is down? Monsters adds a second problem: not who is taking your judgment, but what old drive is released when a brake comes off.

The comfort that asks you to keep your eyes open may be real. The comfort that needs them shut never is.

02 · The map

Two axes.

Most of the kit reads capture. Monsters reads release. Friendlies sits at the hinge: safe power under both tests.

Axis A · Capture

Is something trying to own the eye?

Spider, Sovereignty, Conscripted Objects, Enemy, Institutional Dishonesty, and the testing half of Friendlies ask whether a person, side, story, or system is replacing your judgment with its own.

Axis B · Release

What brake has come off?

Monsters asks a different question. Hunger, fear, rage, territory, humiliation, exhaustion, anonymity, scarcity, and no exit can release old drives without anyone needing to deceive you first.

03 · Order of operations

Reach for the right instrument.

The instruments are not parallel. They nest. Sovereignty is the standing condition; the others are situational lenses.

04 · The compressed kit

What each tool actually does.

This is the pocket version. Each instrument is reduced to its central distinction, the fastest useful test, and the failure mode it is meant to catch.

01 · Sovereignty

Keep the final judgment off the ledger.

Test whether your mind is still yours to move.

  • Can you say “I don’t know” where your side demands certainty?
  • Can you admit an opponent has a point?
  • Can you name your ally’s failure without inventing an excuse?
  • Can you leave and still know who you are?

Political freedom gives sovereignty room to breathe. Party sovereignty is the counterfeit: it offers collective power while spending your private judgment.

02 · Mystery Spider

Read the animal before need becomes silk.

The knowledge and the trap can be the same door.

  • Who named the animal?
  • Can your eye stray off-script without punishment?
  • Can you say the ship will not float?
  • Do exits actually open when pushed?
  • Does it explain, or merely insist?

The binding probe is comfort: does reassurance leave your vigilance intact, or does it make vigilance itself feel shameful? The worst signature is simple: exits get harder while reassurance gets warmer.

03 · Conscripted Objects

Return the object to function.

A broken thing asks for repair. A conscripted thing asks for loyalty.

  • Annexation: the object gets a brand.
  • Substitution: the object becomes a prop.
  • Garrison: the object becomes a tripwire.

The load test is ordinary contact. Can a number be questioned, a plan poked, a date replanned, a pool touched? When ordinary handling becomes betrayal, measure the defense around the object as carefully as the object itself.

04 · Enemy Specimen

Notice when the script starts writing you.

A list handed to you is not sight.

  • Are enemies arriving pre-assigned?
  • Has doubt become a verdict?
  • Can your own side still ask questions?
  • Can it still sympathize, remember, and leave?

The defense is not finding the correct enemies. It is keeping the right to examine each person and claim before hatred becomes a membership requirement.

07 · Institutional Dishonesty

Look for the lie with no single liar.

Structure can manufacture dishonesty without requiring malice.

Use this lens when reports become cleaner as reality gets worse, ownership diffuses across offices, incentives reward pleasing categories, and honest naming is absorbed as a process problem. The key act is retaining the accurate name even when the system has a safer one ready.

This guide is large enough to remain adjacent to the pocket kit rather than be reproduced here.

05 · Friendlies

Read safety after the guard comes down.

Allies share your enemies. Friendlies share your wellbeing.

  • They protect your exit.
  • They feed your judgment instead of replacing it.
  • They can deliver bad news.
  • They survive your doubt.
  • They do not bond by handing you an enemy.

The friendly does not change when your vigilance rests. The same five signs are instructions for becoming one.

06 · Monsters

Find the missing brake.

Conditions explain release. They do not absolve the bite.

  • Scarcity, crowding, sleeplessness, humiliation.
  • Anonymity, no exit, no consequence, no hope.
  • One is a stressor. Several together are a circle.

A monster is what comes out when brakes fail. A predator learns which brakes fail and removes them on purpose. Read the circle early — including the one forming in yourself.

00 · Survival

Do not confuse an instrument with a weapon.

The kit exists to keep you whole, not to make you feel armed.

These tests are not permission to diagnose everyone around you, score friends like suspects, or turn uncertainty into a new enemy list. They are brakes on capture — including your own tendency to become certain too quickly.

Read early. Stay proportionate. Keep false positives possible. Preserve the exit.

05 · Triage

One symptom, one first tool.

When several fit at once, you are probably looking at a mature system running more than one mechanism. Keep Sovereignty underneath and layer the other lenses.

06 · Carry this

The field card.

Six standing disciplines run most of the kit even when you are tired, hurried, frightened, or too deep inside the situation to remember a chapter title.

Exit Keep a real way out.

Never let leaving become so expensive that staying stops being a choice.

Disagreement Break with your own side somewhere.

If no disagreement survives, the group may be doing your thinking for you.

Doubt Protect uncertainty from forced verdicts.

Doubt is not weakness. It is the space in which judgment can still move.

Eye Watch how you are being shown things.

Especially by the people you trust, the side you love, and the comfort you want.

Heart Do not let vigilance erase care.

The point of surviving capture is not permanent suspicion. It is preserving the ability to recognize safe people.

Enough Maintain the brakes.

Enough rest, food, space, dignity, consequence, hope, and margin to keep the old engine governed.

07 · Sixty-second route

When you cannot read the guide.

Do not solve the whole situation. Establish your bearings and protect the faculty that lets you solve anything later.

1. Name what is happening without polishing it.

What is literally true before the story, side, category, or excuse is attached?

2. Find the exit.

Can you still leave, pause, defer, disagree, or get an outside view? If not, treat that as data.

3. Ask what is being taken from your judgment.

Your eye? Your doubt? Your ability to question a number? Your right to choose an enemy? Your permission to use an accurate name?

4. If nobody is hiding anything, ask what brake came off.

Hunger, fear, exhaustion, humiliation, crowding, anonymity, no exit, no consequence, no hope. Explanation is not absolution; it is a map of the failure.

5. Notice who remains safe when you are difficult.

Who protects your exit, survives your questions, tells you bad news, and does not require shared hatred? That is the constructive information in the kit.

6. Do not make the guide into the next web.

Keep calibration. Allow ambiguity. Let a test fail without converting a person into a category. The instrument should preserve judgment, including judgment against the instrument.

08 · Memory layer

When the pages cannot travel.

Each instrument has a song so the central tell can survive outside the document. The song is not the depth. It is the handle.

00 · Whole kit What I Kept It For

The master song: the kit folded into one survival arc.

01 · Sovereignty Off the Ledger

Keep final judgment off the side’s ledger.

02 · Mystery Spider One Foot on the Web

Keep one foot on solid ground; keep one eye that will not go in.

03 · Conscripted Objects Another Number / The Wall I Became

A broken thing wants repair; a claimed thing wants a war.

04 · Enemy Specimen The List They Handed Me

A side that needs your hate to hold you has built a cage.

05 · Friendlies Still You

The recognition song: where the guard finally gets to rest.

06 · Monsters When the Brakes Come Off

The confession song: compassion and accountability held together.

You do not win.

You stay whole. You stay able to move.

Keep an exit. Keep a disagreement. Keep a doubt. Keep an eye.

Keep a heart. Keep enough.

The guide ends where judgment begins: still yours.
